Every Sunday I cook two big things: a grain bowl base and a soup. It’s maybe two hours. Then weeknights are just assembling. Six weeks in, and my grocery runs went from random to Sunday and Wednesday, every week. Happy to share the soup.
A few of you asked what your group can actually see. Here’s the short version. Groups see your streak and on-track days. They never see your places, your visits or your money saved. Sharing is off until you turn it on for a group.
Eight weeks with no vape shop visits. Every week I recorded what I would normally have spent, and seeing it add up is kind of wild. I’m putting it toward a trip in the spring.
My weekly summary says one hour at the library. In reality I studied a ton, just at my kitchen table. It can see the library, not the studying, which is fair. Might add a check-in for home study days so the week looks more like what happened.
Four of us made a group and agreed on three gym visits each. Seeing everyone’s confirmed days on the weekly board kept it fun, and nobody could see where anyone else went. Three of us hit it, and the fourth is already planning a rematch.
This week’s prompt: tell us one small win from last week. A library hour, a class you almost skipped but didn’t, a coffee you brewed at home. Small wins count. Mine: I finished a whole crossword. Slowly.
Six hours at the library this week, which is a record for me. But I also slept about five hours a night. Does anyone pair a study goal with a sleep one?
It rained five days out of seven. Made it to the park twice, once in a full rain jacket, which was kind of great. Two of four. Not the week I planned, but not nothing.
A friend’s birthday on Saturday, at a bar. My goal is no bars on weeknights, so technically it was allowed, but I wanted to see if I could just not drink. Ordered a soda with lime. Nobody asked. Nobody cared. I was the only one who remembered the whole night, which was its own…
Had a rough week and went twice. My streak is back to the start. I’m not going to pretend it didn’t happen. But last month I would have gone five times, so I’m counting this as information, not a disaster.
My goal is the coffee shop at most twice a week. This week both visits were catching up with friends, and that’s exactly what I want coffee shops for. The solo 3 p.m. “I deserve this” runs were the ones adding up.
People asked, so here’s my roughly $35 week: oats, eggs, rice, frozen veggies, a big bag of spinach, chickpeas, peanut butter, bananas, tortillas, cheese. Not exciting. Gets me to the next grocery run without ordering.
My friends and I always did Thursday at the same bar. I asked if we could do dinner instead, expecting pushback. Everyone said yes right away. Apparently they wanted to save money too. We rotate who picks the place now.
Started a Thursday game night in our dorm lounge. Some weeks it’s eight people, some weeks it’s me and my roommate playing cards. Four weeks of it now. It’s become the thing I look forward to most.
Got to the gym at 5:30 and every rack was taken, so I turned around. It didn’t count as a visit, which annoyed me for about a minute, but it was a two-minute stop. Passing by isn’t going. Went back at 9 and it was empty. Lesson learned: 5:30 is everyone’s time.
My Money saved card says $84 since September. Not huge, but it’s the first time I’ve seen the number instead of just feeling bad about it. What helped: groceries on Sunday so there’s always something at home at 11 p.m.
My cousins do a casino night every few weeks. I said I’d come for dinner but skip the casino part. They were fine with it. I got a nice dinner, a ride home and still had my paycheck on Monday.
Daytime me is fine. 11:30 p.m. me, after a long shift, driving past the drive-thru on the way home, is a different person. Things I’m trying: a snack in the car, a different route home, and texting my roommate when I leave work so someone knows I’m coming straight back.
This week’s prompt: who helps you show up? A roommate who drags you to the gym, a friend who texts “library?” at the right moment, a group that cheers your streak. Tell us about them. Then maybe tell them too.
My goal is fast food at most once a week. Did it once, on Friday, with friends, and enjoyed every bite. It was never about zero. It was about choosing it.
