How NoTestudo uses your location

Location is how NoTestudo counts your visits without you logging them. Here’s exactly what it records, who can see what, and how to switch it off.

What it records

With your permission, NoTestudo records visits: places where your phone stops, with the time you arrived and left. It can do this in the background if you allow it, which is how visits count with the app closed.

Place names nearby come from Google Places, so a visit can say “gym” or “coffee shop.” Stops under three minutes look like passing by and don’t count.

What it’s used for

  • Your stats: hours spent or saved, and money kept.
  • Your map and the journey of your week.
  • Progress on the goals you chose, and your weekly summary.

We don’t sell your personal data, and we don’t use it for third-party advertising.

Who sees what

Sharing is off until you turn it on, and nobody else ever sees your places.

Health-care places stay private

Clinics, pharmacies and other health-care places are never a goal. They’re filtered out of place search, NoTestudo doesn’t keep visits, labels, notes or spending for them, and they’re never shared, even with friends you share your location with. Raw location can still reach your iPhone before those filters run. How health-care places stay private

Does NoTestudo sell my location?

No. NoTestudo doesn’t sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Can I use NoTestudo without sharing my location?

You can turn location off in iOS Settings and the app runs in a reduced mode, but visits can’t record themselves without it. Groups never need your location.

Your week still adds up.

NoTestudo is the habit app that tracks itself. Say your goals once, then live your week: the visits, the hours and the dollars you kept add up on their own.

NoTestudo is invite-only right now. Ask someone on campus for an invite, or join the waitlist for the App Store release in January.
